Haha yeah, the first film is ‘80’s cheese with all the elements to heighten the summer mindset and spirit. It’s got its own kind of style because of Tony Scott. The sequel definitely doesn’t diminish that style, but really takes you back to where the good ol’ times thrived. Truly an ideal crowd pleaser.
The first Top Gun was so lewd that I couldn't finish it, but Maverick is the platonic ideal of a crowdpleaser.
