These are but a few of the names that defined the 1980s, described by some as one of the “safest” periods in filmmaking but also by some as the greatest era for popular cinema since the 1940s. Filmmakers like Scorsese, Roland Joffe, and Akira Kurosawa released some of their best work during this time, while emerging talent like James Cameron, the Coen Brothers, and John Hughes all got a chance to shine.
There’s a lot to get into, so without further ado, let’s get into it! Can’t wait to see the results.
I had my list ready to go already after I missed the 90s poll! The 80s was an exceptional decade for comedy, I noticed. Fully half of my top ten are comedies.
