The Life of Chuck (2005)

By: Travis Vermulm

Any fan of Mike Flanagan knows he is a major fan of bringing Stephen King stories to both the big and small screen. After his excellent work on Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep fans were dying to see what King fright fest Flanagan would take on next. I was as surprised as the rest of the fan base when he decided to write and direct one of King’s lesser known non-horror stories The Life of Chuck. The transition from horror to life-affirming drama was no problem for Flanagan. The Life of Chuck is a magical film about what truly makes us human. Flanagan takes the audience backwards through three periods of a man’s inner and outer life and speaks to the heart and soul of what it means to live a full life.
