Marty Supreme (2025)

By Matthew Lang

Marty Supreme is a propulsive and stressful tale about a ping pong hustler in New York in the 1950s who will do anything to achieve greatness. Inspired by the real life Marty Reisman, but largely fictional, what starts as a traditional sports movie quickly lurches into a quasi-crime epic as Marty lies, steals, grinds his way to get the money he needs for the next ping-pong tournament. Between the precise editing and an incredible performance by Timothée Chalamet, who is never in a situation he can't fast talk his way through, this is cinematic craft at its finest.
