I'm not surprised that Grave of the Fireflies didn't make it, but Glory didn't either? What a shame. I really thought it would.
On the plus side, my #3 was #2 (yeah!) and my #2 was #1 (double yeah!!). Thank you for using two of my blurbs: one for a religious movie and the other for a Star Wars movie. 😁 Overall, this list is excellent.
Another vote for "Grave of the Fireflies" from here! Maybe, not that many people heard of it, much less saw it? Any decent cinephile should have!
Also, wonder if the US-deployed, cruel firebombing of Tokyo as depicted in this utterly devastating movie was a political hot potato keeping it from most people's reach? (The war operation was not overtly called thus, though.)
I believe it has to do with people being uninterested and/or oblivious to dramatic, realistic anime. I have told everyone I have met who considers themselves to be an anime fan (I'm not one particularly) about Grave of the Fireflies and most haven't heard of it. Those who have didn't see it. The only exception is a young lady I met in college but she didn't like the film; it wasn't her thing.
Ah! That's so interesting. I'm not an anime fan, either, and was surprised how moving it was. That's the only anime film I really treasure, only because of how powerful the subtlety of the story was! I rank it higher than a whole lot of other live-action movies. I was able to view it just twice, and many years had to pass before I could watch it again.
It's one of those very rare movies that makes you feel like crying in the first 10 minutes. The only others I can think off the top of my head are Arrival and maybe Finding Nemo too.
This is a great list. However, I think it’s missing a kids adventure movie that was perfected in the ‘80s. Something like *The Goonies*, *Explorers*, *Flight of the Navigator*, *The Last Starfighter*(an absolutely underrated gem), or *Honey, I Shrunk the Kids*.

We did get a vote for Goonies but it didn't get enough to place!
Awesome! Honestly surprised that Temple of Doom didn’t show up but who cares lol
Nice! Every single one of mine made it on the list :D
Bummer that Stop Making Sense isn't on here.
